As the sole nonprofit organization with the job of supporting the Manatee County Agricultural Museum, the Friends of the Manatee County Agricultural Museum (the “Friends”) are constantly raising funds and awareness for the Ag Museum. The needs of the Ag Museum are significant and include the following:

• Educational programs for both children and adults

​

• Conservation and preservation of artifacts and the museum building, which includes adequate storage facilities to allow the Ag Museum to provide rotating exhibits.

​

• Collection insurance (Inland marine) and other insurance coverages to protect the significant value of its collections and other assets and which allows for traveling exhibits

​

• Exhibits development, fabrication, and installation. 

​

The collaborative mission of the Ag Museum and the Friends is to ensure the ongoing retention of Manatee County’s agricultural history, comprising row crops like tomatoes and vegetables, citrus, horticulture, cattle, dairy and fishing. This is particularly critical with the continuing urbanization of Southwest Florida, and Manatee County in particular.
